Last week, when we talked in this space about teams that were top-25 in the Pairwise and therefore likely to make up the vast majority of the NCAA tournament field, one of the teams that really stood out from the pack was Maine.
They were not the only team in the bunch with a better expected-goals difference than actual-goals differential, but they were off on an island by themselves in terms of their ability to absolutely dominate play but only come away with a relatively marginal positive goal difference.
