DENVER, Colorado – The transfer portal has redefined college hockey. 

Between the NCAA changing rules, allowing a one-time change without a redshirt season, and a current cycle of players with an extra year of eligibility because of COVID, player movement has been rampant. 

From a coaching perspective, it’s an easy cycle to get drawn into. It’s never been easier to add a quick fix to the roster, finding a player with college experience that in the prior hockey universe would have been sitting out a season. 

No. 1 ranked North Dakota, for example, has seven players in its lineup that played college hockey somewhere else last season.
