The Seattle Kraken will not have their new AHL affiliate just outside of Palm Springs, Calif., on the ice until the 2022-23 season, but they do have their first player under contract.
Seattle management has not announced the club’s AHL plans for next season. They could either scatter their AHL players with different teams around the league or partner with another NHL club to set up a temporary dual affiliation.
But in other Seattle news, the expansion team has its first player under contract. Seattle inked 21-year-old centre Luke Henman to a contract on Wednesday, officially making him the first player in franchise history. Henman is wrapping up his season captaining the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
