BURKE: Re-Ranking the 2018 NHL Entry Draft

It seems like just yesterday that the stars of today and even tomorrow crossed the stage in Dallas, donning their new team’s colours for the first time as a just reward for reaching that milestone en route to the NHL.

Now, as many as seven of those players from the 2018 NHL Entry Draft are NHL regulars, and there is another handful of players shoving their skates through the door in spot duty.

I’m losing track of which drafts earn the ‘good’ or ‘bad’ label before they’d even started, but in retrospect, the class of 2018 looks pretty damn good. The group has already produced two No. 1 defencemen and with the bevy of high-end rearguards taken shortly thereafter, it won’t surprise me if that number grows a bit in the years that follow.
