EP Rinkside 2024 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 5-ranked Utah Hockey Club
The future is now in Utah. The ownership group, led by Ryan Smith, notified the NHL in January that they were ready to bring hockey to Salt Lake City, and in less than four months, that dream became a reality.
In many ways, the timing is almost perfect. The team they inherited had the cap space to be one of the offseason's big spenders and, finally, an owner willing to oblige their front office. Pair that with the picks and prospects in Utah's fifth-ranked system, and it's not hard to imagine a scenario where they're competitive sooner rather than later.
Utah's prospect pool may not be deep, but they have at least one player possessing credible top-of-the-lineup skill at every premium position, even after graduating last year's top-ranked player, Logan Cooley. Let's check them all out.
