EP Rinkside 2022 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 9-ranked New Jersey Devils
The prospect rich got richer last draft, with the New Jersey Devils owning the second overall pick.
Now, the Devils sit one spot inside the top-10, with an impressive three prospects ranked inside the league-wide top-20. There’s no denying the Devils’ desire to add high-end skill, but they’ve amassed an intriguing collection of potential players to fill the bottom of the lineup, featuring punishing wingers, heavy shooters, and players who combine both. That’s to say, the depth stands out -- nearly 20 players received consideration for the final five spots in the top 15.
The graduation of Dawson Mercer was offset – and then some – by the addition of Simon Nemec and the growth of Alexander Holtz and Luke Hughes. Meanwhile, Kevin Bahl and Nolan Foote are considered graduates under the criteria of this ranking but very much remain prospects.
