Where do the Calgary Flames go from here?

The Calgary Flames were dealt a bad hand after the 2021-22 season. 

Johnny Gaudreau was going to leave, Matthew Tkachuk also wanted out. 

Flames GM Brad Treliving pivoted the best he could, trading Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in a deal for Jonathan Huberdeau and signing Nazem Kadri as a replacement in the space. 

He made the best of a bad situation, kept the Flames a playoff contender, but in the end the Flames came up short of the postseason when they dealt themselves a bad hand in April with some embarrassing losses in a year they ended up missing the playoffs by potentially just two points. 

Calgary lost at home to the tanking Chicago Blackhawks on April 4. On April 8 they lost to the free-falling Vancouver Canucks in a shoot-out. And on April 10 they lost in a shootout to the Nashville
