Unnumbered Thoughts: Sometimes the NHL can't get out of it's own way

NHL

The NHL is a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday league

Most games are played on those three days, and while it makes for some schedule regularity it also leads to one of my weekly frustrations with the league.

For example, it’s a Friday night, like last night, and after getting dinner done with the family and getting the kids to bed, I’d like to watch some hockey.

And my only option is the tail end of the shootout for a game between the Arizona Coyotes and New Jersey Devils. No west coast game to catch, and with all the 7 PM starts and no standard across the league, the other Friday game was also over.

The same thing will happen next week, there are two NHL games on Friday night, and 15 on Saturday. It’s a ridiculous lack of balance.

Other than Black Friday, the league completely cedes the night to all other activities. I wish that would change.

And with that, it’s time for some unnumbered thoughts.
