Take Town: Deadline mindset
As we approach the trade deadline, one team that I keep circling back to in my mind is the Dallas Stars.
They have a great team that is, I think it's fair to say, a little top-heavy. Their top line is lights-out. They have a couple great defensemen. And then a lot of the rest of their success hinges on whether Tyler Seguin or Jamie Benn will be able to play at something resembling a high level for the homestretch of the regular season, and then what they no doubt hope will be a deep Cup run.
For that reason, the ability to add real talent around the deadline should be a high priority for them — how many more seasons like this can we count on from Joe Pavelski? — and yet if they're on the hunt for that kind of player, they're really playing it like ambush predators. Haven't heard much at all
