Power Feelings: The weight of expectation
This may look to you like a standard NHL “power rankings” but let me assure you, friend, that it is anything but. These rankings are based entirely on how I feel about a team’s chances of winning the Stanley Cup, meaning you can’t tell me I’m wrong because these are my feelings and feelings can’t be wrong.
Please enjoy the Power Feelings.
32. Montreal Canadiens (Last time: 32)
Two wins, one of which was against the Islanders, and we suddenly have to act like, “Hey maybe Martin St. Louis is a genius.” I mean, no one is as bad as they have been this season and Cole Caufield wasn’t gonna shoot 1 percent forever, but c’mon, this team still stinks. I’m trying to remember the last time the Habs got themselves all hyped up on an interim guy with no NHL head-coaching experience, and how that all worked out.
31. Arizona Coyotes (LT: 31)
They’re back to playing .300 hockey and the sell-off has begun. This is the way to do it.
30. Seattle Kraken (LT: 30)
I can’t in good conscience put these guys below Montreal and Arizona, but by points percentage and xGF% over the last month, they’re worse than both of them. And maybe it’s worse because they thought they’d be competitive this season. Rough go.
