The Colorado Avalanche have reunited with depth defenceman Jack Johnson, acquiring him from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Andreas Englund.

Johnson, 36, signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks last offseason for $950,000 after his one season with the Avalanche ended with a Stanley Cup victory. The veteran defenceman has four points, all assists, in 58 games with the Blackhawks this season.

For an Avalanche team that's lost Cale Makar and Erik Johnson to the injured reserve in the last few weeks, an addition like Johnson is a welcomed bit of defensive depth for a team that could sorely use it. He is, after all, a Stanley Cup champion.
Englund, meanwhile, is a 27-year-old depth defenceman with 69 games experience across parts of five NHL seasons. He's playing on a one year deal worth $750,000.
