Chris Kreider is leading the league in goal scoring, and here's how he's doing it

We appear to be barrelling towards one hell of a Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy race down the stretch. As my colleague Ryan Lambert astutely pointed out recently, there's a whopping 11 players producing at an 82-game pace of roughly 50 goals through the halfway point of the season. It's a staggering amount based on what we'd become accustomed to, and that's a great thing.

Goals are fun, and seeing the best players in the world put up video game scoring totals is highly entertaining.

The list is filled with a lot of the usual suspects. Alexander Ovechkin is remarkably just one goal shy of his 16th 30-goal campaign, despite the fact that he's A) 36 years old, B) still got nearly 40 games to go, and C) not producing at his usual standard on the power play. After scoring just one goal in October, Auston Matthews has 24 in 30 games since, including a stretch mixed in there where he scored in seven consecutive contests.
