Projecting Alex Barré-Boulet with the Seattle Kraken

NHL
Yanni Gourde won't be the only piece the Seattle Kraken will have grabbed from the Tampa Bay Lightning before the start of the season. Another native of the Chaudière-Appalaches region will join centreman on the ice following his return from injury in the coming weeks, Alex Barré-Boulet

The Lightning waived Barré-Boulet on Sunday after the 24-year-old forward lost his battle for a roster spot with the team. The departures of Gourde, Blake ColemanTyler Johnson and Barclay Goodrow forced the team to fill a couple of forward roles. Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk outplayed Barré-Boulet at camp for those.

One training camp doesn't make a career, however, and for a team looking to add depth scoring, like the newcomers Seattle Kraken, Barré-Boulet represents an interesting option. On first look, his track record of production at lower levels suggests that the forward could contribute offensively at the NHL level if placed in the right situation.

After all, we have seen underutilized players thrive in upgraded roles with the Vegas Golden Knights before. Sometimes, all one needs is an opportunity.
