Rookie Midterms: David Jiříček has earned the right to be in the NHL, whether Columbus sees it that way or not

The Columbus Blue Jackets nightmare season continues to descend further into darkness.

It started with a sudden change behind the bench after disgraced head coach Mike Babcock was let go ahead of the season, only months after he'd joined the team. Then a series of losses and poor performances from their top players struck on the ice, followed by injuries and a plummet down the standings.

And the hits keep on coming. The Blue Jackets top defence prospect, David Jiříček, told Aaron Portzline of The Athletic that he’s unhappy with his situation. And looking at how the last few months have unfolded for him, one can easily understand why. The team has ferried him back and forth from the AHL to the NHL pressbox in the past few weeks.

Jiříček believes he deserves a better opportunity. The coaching s
