COHEN: Prospects Scott Reedy, Nikolai Knyzhov, John Leonard Bright Spots in a Dark San Jose Sharks Season

NHL Prospects

The San Jose Sharks are destined for a lottery finish, but they don’t have a number for Bill Daly to call — their first-round pick is in the Ottawa Senators trade as a result of the Erik Karlsson trade.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson has since recouped a first for the annual talent auction, trading Barclay Goodrow and a third-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Still, the storm clouds linger over the SAP Center and an increasingly fatalistic fanbase is coalescing around the idea that the Sharks lack the picks or prospects to turn this thing around. Not so fast, though. Some of the Sharks’ lesser-known prospects are coming out of the woodworks, and reinforcements are on the way.

Enter: Nikolai Knyzhov. Maybe you saw him play for the Regina Pats in 2015-16 or the Springfield Jr. Blues
