5 surprise NHL Draft-eligible standouts from the OHL

After an unexpected year and a half off, the OHL is back in action. There are some new faces and some familiar ones and a few that have gotten off to surprisingly strong starts. 

Older newcomers to the OHL, like Guelph's Sasha Pastujov and Kingston's Lucas Edmonds are among the league leaders in scoring. Oshawa's Calum Ritchie (not draft-eligible until 2023) has been tearing it up for the Generals, leading all OHL rookies in scoring with eight goals. 

The 2004-born players were in a tough spot heading into this year. Nearly all of them, save for Shane Wright, faced the daunting task of playing out their OHL rookie seasons in their NHL draft year after losing an entire season of development.

It's safe to say that many rose to the challenge.
