Takeaways from Seattle's Expansion Draft

The expansion draft has finally come and gone, and the Seattle Kraken officially has a Cap Friendly page filled with NHL contracts. The specifics of what their lineup looks on the ice for opening night in October will certainly change quite a bit between now and then, with the league-wide trade freeze set to lift Thursday and free agency just around the corner.

But even so, this is still a good starting point for us and there's plenty to work with based on the information we already have. We now have a functional framework to build off of after weeks of speculation and mock drafting. 

At the very least, we finally got access to some real, actionable insight as to what they prioritized as an organization, and how they wanted to build the first incarnation of their team. Regardless of your mileage on whether it was good or bad, at least there was a clearly discernible plan for what they wanted to do.
