Film Room: Evan Nause's puck-moving ability makes him one of the draft's best secondary defensive options

The top of the 2021 NHL Draft is replete with high-end defencemen, marked by the presence of Owen PowerSimon EdvinssonBrandt Clarke, and Luke Hughes, each of which could solidify the blue line of a lottery team in relatively short order.

That's hardly the end of the conversation concerning defensive talent in this year's draft though. There's a handful of exciting prospects outside of that group with currency in the first-round all their own.

A few days ago, our crossover scout, Daniel Gee wrote a detailed article on one of those projectsScott Morrow. Another one that warrants our attention on the Canadian side -- someone selected twice in the top-10 of the QMJHL draft in consecutive years -- who leads his team and all U18 'Q' defencemen in points: Evan Nause of the Québec Remparts.

The defenceman's potential rests in two elements above all else: His posture and transition play.
