BURKE: Wrapping up the 2020 CHL Import Draft

With the conclusion of the 2020 CHL Import Draft today, at least one such event occurred on schedule without a hitch. In June, no less.

It’s a complicated process, so bear with me as I try to explain it. Every one of the CHL’s 60 teams, across its three leagues, is permitted two import player spots on their roster per season. An import player is anyone who hails from anywhere outside of the United States or Canada. They can choose to protect import players season over season, but each player they protect will draw from their ammunition at the Import Draft.
