Transfers are an enormous part of the college hockey landscape now, with hundreds of players changing schools freely each summer. That's thanks in large part to loosened restrictions on when players can play for new teams and the extra year of what you might call "COVID eligibility" that everyone who was enrolled during the 2020-21 season was granted by the NCAA.
As such, it's almost as important to keep track of who's transferring where as it is to assess incoming freshman classes, because each can have a significant impact on where teams end up in the standings. In fact, for many clubs, it's probable that their transfers will have a bigger impact than their freshmen.
