Around the AHL: The AHL continues to construct a season

The march toward a 2020-21 American Hockey League season continues.

After two delays to the season, extensive negotiations, and a Board of Governors meeting Wednesday, AHL President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Howson announced the next step for the NHL’s top developmental league as it battles the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial and logistical impacts.

“The American Hockey League Board of Governors has approved the structural framework for an AHL season that will begin on February 5, 2021,” Howson said in a written statement. “Details are still being worked out, but this step allows our teams and their National Hockey League partners to better determine their plans for the coming season. We look forward to dropping the puck on February 5th.”
