Around the AHL: Seth Appert takes on the pro challenge

After 20 seasons behind NCAA benches, Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) head coach Seth Appert is finding new challenges this season.

The 46-year-old also found four points last week in his first two pro victories for Rochester. 

He replaced Chris Taylor and became the 33rd head coach in the Amerks’ storied history following three seasons leading the under-17 and under-18 clubs for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. The USNTDP saw its two head coaches advance to the AHL in the offseason as John Wroblewski, now of the Ontario Reign (Los Angeles Kings), joined Appert.
