ESPOO, Finland — The final day of round-robin action at the U18 World Hockey Championships had no shortage of intrigue.

In the first game, Norway and Slovakia met, with each team attempting to avoid a spot in the relegation round. Slovakia dominated from puck drop until, well, the Zamboni broke down during the second intermission and needed to be towed off of the ice by two forklifts and half a dozen volunteers. The result was a massive hole in the ice and the game was completed in a neighbouring practice rink. 

Meanwhile, Sweden and Switzerland were competing in the Vantaa rink. The Swedes needed a regulation victory to claim second in Pool B. Instead, they were outplayed for much of the game and ended up winning 3-2 thus securing that second spot in the pool to Czechia and leaving Sweden w
