Taking Stock: A look at the Boston Bruins' prospect pool ahead of the 2023 NHL trade deadline
The Boston Bruins continue to defy conventional wisdom and rack up wins at a historic clip even as their core ages well out of what we'd usually describe as a player's physical peak. This is especially true of Patrice Bergeron, who remains the gold standard for two-way play in his age-37 season.
So here they are ahead of the 2023 NHL trade deadline a credible Stanley Cup contender if not outright favourites, primed to be one of its chief movers. You gotta make hay while the sun shines, right? Eventually, it's going to set on this contending core.
That means that it's imperative that the Bruins' front office do everything in their power to get this team back to the promised land.
Their prospect pool is shallow, checking in at No. 30 in our offseason ranking of every NHL system. Still, there are worthwhile players in its ranks – developmental projects, candidates for NHL minutes, and at least one prospect with high-end offensive upside. They have enough ammunition in the holster to take some big swings before March 3 trade deadline.
