Scout's Notebook: Evaluating Juraj Slafkovský's hockey sense
When it's all said and done, Juraj Slafkovský's hockey sense will probably get a 6-grade on the Elite Prospects linear 1-to-9 tools grading system at the height of his career. For reference, one represents an amateur level, five the NHL average, and nine the best in the sport.
That places Slafkovský firmly in the above-average range.
His awareness and processing speed should become the strong points of his game in the NHL. He should be able to manipulate defenders 1-on-1 to create scoring chances for himself and support teammates all over the ice, but I'm not sure he will become an especially creative playmaker.
The grades are always subjective. They're an estimation of a prospect's ability to read the ice compared to the rest of their draft class and other top-end players from previous ones
