Film Room: Investigating Conor Geekie's all-around game

The Winnipeg Ice, formerly known as the Kootenay Ice, held the top two selections in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. It was a seismic opportunity for the recently-moved club to rebound following a dreadful 13-win 2018-19 campaign. With their first pick, they chose near-exceptional status pivot, Matthew Savoie. With their second, they took local Manitoba-native, Conor Geekie.

Geekie, the brother of Seattle Kraken forward Morgan Geekie, had long been pegged as a high-end prospect coming out of the Yellowhead Chiefs' AAA program. When his name was called two years, ago, Geekie stood 6-foot-1 and weighed 165 pounds. The skill was without question, but few could imagine what would occur with Geekie's physical package.

As the 2022 draft-eligible talent patrols the middle of the ice this season, he currently stands a whopping 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds. He blends the kind of size, skill and positional package that has NHL teams drooling at his potential.

And drool they should.
